**CLAUDIO LUGLI — BIOGRAPHY**
Claudio Lugli is an Italian fashion designer, creative entrepreneur, author and artist, born in Brescia, Italy, in 1956. He began his professional career in fashion in the 1980s, developing his own label and building, together with his wife Renata Fruscella Lugli, a fashion company that became well known in Italy during the 1980s and 1990s.
From the beginning, Lugli’s approach to fashion was strongly personal: rather than simply following trends, he focused on distinctive tailoring, unusual fabrics, colour, detail and garments designed specifically around the personality of the person wearing them. This brought him into contact with the worlds of international music, cinema and entertainment.
Over the years, Claudio Lugli designed clothing and wardrobes for a remarkable list of artists and public figures, including **Miles Davis, Joe Cocker, Chick Corea, Paco de Lucía, Pino Daniele, Robben Ford and John Travolta**, among others. His work can also be found in official recording credits: he is credited for wardrobe or clothing design on projects by **Paco de Lucía, Pino Daniele, Chick Corea and Return to Forever, and Robben Ford**.
His relationship with some of these artists went well beyond a conventional designer-client relationship. He became a longtime friend and stylist of legendary jazz pianist **Chick Corea**, and in the early 1990s he also developed a close friendship with **Pino Daniele**, for whom he created exclusive garments. Lugli has recalled playing a personal role in bringing Pino Daniele and Chick Corea into contact, a connection that subsequently led them to work together musically.
Another unusual chapter of his career was his long relationship with the highest levels of the Church of Scientology. For years, Claudio and Renata Lugli were the personal designers and tailors of Scientology leader **David Miscavige and his wife Shelly Miscavige**, creating personal clothing as well as garments and uniforms for senior members of the organization. Their proximity to Miscavige gave them a direct view of a world normally inaccessible to outsiders.
Fashion, however, has never been Claudio Lugli’s only creative language. Throughout his life he has moved between design, music, writing and visual creativity. In more recent years he has increasingly devoted himself to writing, songwriting and independent research, while maintaining the same instinct that characterized his work as a designer: a refusal to conform, a fascination with individuality, and the desire to create something recognizably his own.
After more than four decades of creative work, Claudio Lugli’s career is difficult to place within a single category. He has been a designer, entrepreneur, personal stylist to internationally known artists, musician, writer and independent thinker. Fashion was where the journey began — but creativity, in all its forms, has always been the common thread.
